Weekend Fun: Grand Openings, Outdoor Cinema, Lollapalooza and More

It's getting to be about that time. You're watching the clock tick slowly closer to 5 p.m. It may not be here quite yet, but get ready because you've got a lot of weekend ahead of you.

It's time for the Weekend Planner, Patch's weekly list of the best events going on around the neighborhood this weekend. Browse through the list, pick out one that suits you and enjoy the summer.

Friday

Free babysitting for date night - Jacob's Well Church Community in Evergreen Park will host a Parent's Date Night Out with free babysitting for all from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. All kids are welcome to enjoy movies, games and face painting at 3450 W. Maple St. in Evergreen Park.

Despicable Me in the Park - State Representative Fran Hurley and State Senator Bill Cunningham will host a showing of Despicable Me at the Orland Hills Community Center, 16553 Haven Ave., at 8:30 p.m.

Hamlet
- Enjoy a night of Shakespeare under the Stars. Moraine Valley Community College, Fine and Performing Arts Center presents Hamlet. The show begins at 7 p.m. outside at the campus Gateway Arch and will also be performed on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

Nine, Wine and Dine at Stony Creek - Stony Creek Golf Course hosts Nine, Wine and Dine: nine holes of two-person scramble, followed by dinner with wine. Golf and dinner is $38 per person. Shotgun start is at 4:30 p.m.

Saturday

West Side Story - Oak Lawn Park District Community Theatre, 4625 W. 110th St., presents West Side Story, the classic musical about forbidden love between two lovers in rival gangs, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $22 for adults and $21 for seniors and children, 12 and under.

Gigantic Book Sale - The Evergreen Park Public Library's Gigantic Book Sale Pre-sale is this Saturday. With a $5 donation, you can beat the crowd for the best selection on books, movies, CDs, magazines, audiobooks and more.

Sunday

Michaels Grand Opening - Evergreen Park's Michaels, 9140 S. Western Ave., will have its grand opening ceremony starting at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. The store will have many free giveaways, both on Sunday and during next week.

Music Under the Stars and Fireworks - The Beverly Area Planning Association presents an outdoor performance by Rich Daniels and the City Lights Orchestra at 7 p.m. at the Morgan Park Academy grounds, 2153 W. 111th St. Admission is $30/family, $15/individuals or $10/seniors at the gate.
