Local Lunch: Rosangelas Pizzeria Hits the Spot without Hurting Your Wallet

Since 1955, Rosangelas Pizzeria, 2807 W. 95th St., has been serving up much more than pizza. Rosangelas is a homey restaurant where families can enjoy a delicious meal with great service, like their fantastic sandwiches or delicious pasta dishes. Servers say the beef and big boy sandwiches are a fan favorite, but I’m going off the beaten path with a cup of minestrone soup on this chilly Monday and a meatball sandwich with a pink lemonade.

Check out our local listing for Rosangela's here.

The minestrone has a bit of heat to it, but despite its lightness, the veggies and beans make it just hearty enough to fill you up just the right amount before the main course. The bread has a slight crunch in its crust, but it’s what’s on the side that counts, and the softness inside makes it perfect for dipping.

The meatball sandwich, coated in melted mozzarella and a red sauce with a bit of a kick, is served on the same toasty Italian bread. Despite its softness inside, it stands up to the sandwich’s saucy contents. For its reasonable price, I was not expecting such a big sandwich, but it was a pleasant surprise.

Next to me, an entire group orders a set of Big Boys. Maybe I made the wrong choice. But either way, I wouldn’t mind coming back to try it. Just not right now. I’m way too full.

The service is friendly, the food is pretty delicious and the prices are really affordable. For a college student on a budget, I’m likin’ it. It’s not the dollar menu at McDonald’s but then, you’re not paying for someone to fry you up some frozen nuggets. You’re really getting what you pay for at Rosangelas, and you’re paying for a quality meal in a nice atmosphere.

Overall: Great recommendation, Evergreen Park. My taste buds and I agree, you have good taste.
