Former Blackhawk, Evergreen Park Native Chelios Inducted to Hockey Hall of Fame

Hockey legend and Evergreen Park native Chris Chelios recently received the greatest honor a hockey player could ask for.

Just in time to ride an exceptionally high wave of hockey infatuation throughout the area, Evergreen Park native and former Chicago Blackhawks captain Chris Chelios was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Tuesday, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The 51-year-old played in a total of 1,651 games and nine seasons with the Blackhawks. He's got three Stanley Cup wins under his belt and is an 11-time NHL All-Star.

"He's the best American-born player ever," former Hawks teammate and fellow member of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Eddie Olczyk told the Trib. "He played any way he wanted — skill, tough, dirty. And he was a winner."
