Police Blotter: Nail Shop Owner Charged with Assault Says Customer Looked Threatening

Evergreen Park Police reports: Aug. 26-Sept. 1

THURSDAY, SEPT. 1 Evergreen Park Police said they received information about a man who sells cocaine at north the lot of The Plaza, 9500 S. Western Ave. Police, using an undercover buyer, agreed to purchase $60 worth of cocaine. According to reports, police saw the informant make the transaction with Jonathan Tate, 20, of Chicago, at about 4:24 p.m., then police stopped the car in the parking lot. Police said they recovered one gram of cocaine and a steel grinder with greenish residue in it. Tate is charged with felony unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Man Impersonating a Nike Coach Charged with Theft

Police nabbed an Evanston man for taking money from someone as he falsely identified himself.

A man who identified himself as a Nike coach scammed a group of people out of money. Curtis K. Jackson, 45, of Evanston, was charged with misdemeanor theft for taking $500 from a victim. Evergreen Park police said they got a call on May 30 from a private investigator hired by Nike to conduct an investigation on someone who had been calling high school coaches offering them contracts with the brand. During this particular incident, police said, Jackson contacted a victim by phone offering him a position as a Nike coach, and set up a meeting for Jan. 8.  According to reports, on the day of the supposed meeting, Jackson called the victim early that morning and told him his niece was struck with car problems, but he lost his ID and couldn’t …

Man Fleeing From Cops Nabbed by Off-Duty Sergeant

Police said a Chicago resident who had a warrant out for his arrest tried to steal from Walmart, then made a brief getaway.

A man with a warrant out for his arrest tried to steal from Walmart in Evergreen Park and then ran away but eventually landed in the hands of a Chicago police sergeant. Police said Terrell Delaney, 18, of Chicago, was charged with obstructing identification, retail theft and resisting a peace officer. According to reports, on the morning of May 23, Delaney was charged with retail theft for taking a 22-inch Emerson television valued at $178. He was charged with resisting a peace officer by pulling away and running from the officer, twisting his body and refusing to place his hands behind his back. Police said that after Delaney resisted arrest, he took off running. Police said they got a report of someone running who might have been armed …

TUESDAY, MARCH 10 Two women were caught stealing from Walmart, police said. According to police reports, at about 9:22 p.m., Kenyatta S. Nash, 30, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft for stealing five assorted clothing items totaling $47.50, from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St. Creeonia T. Perrin, 19, of Chicago, took 10 items valued at $100.41 from Walmart, police said. The two women were caught upon exiting the store, according to reports. MONDAY, MAY 9 Two women got into a street fight outside a hospital, according to police. Police said that at about 5:26 p.m., Leola J. Police Blotter: Traffic Offenses, Possession and Scamming a Walmart Customer

Evergreen Park Police Reports, March 7-11.

A woman was stopped for driving more than 20 miles per hour over the speed limit and police discovered a slew of other offenses. According to police reports, Shevonn D. Damper, 21, of Burr Ridge, was stopped by police near 95th Street and California Avenue at around 3:19 a.m., for driving 51 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police said after stopping the car and approaching the driver, they could smell a strong marijuana odor. After asking Damper if she could step out, police said she admitted to having marijuana, and they found a 1.1-gram bag in the center console and two pipes used to ingest marijuana with residue left in them. A man tried to scam a woman out of money, promising to give her a great deal on a television, according to a police report…
