After a tumultuous few years in football, the Evergreen Park Community High School Mustangs have gotten their mojo back. No doubt, Patch Athlete of the Week winner Jeremy Esparza gave the team a push after emerging as the hero in the last game, kicking two field goals for the team, including a 28-yarder with 7.5 seconds left. Tonight, the Mustangs match up against Richmond-Burton in the second round of Class 4A in the IHSA Quarterfinals, with an energetic varsity team motivated by first-year coach Dan Hartman. If the Mustangs beat Richmond-Burton this evening, they'll be in the third round of the playoffs, the sweet taste of success the school hadn't tasted for more than 10 years.
