Police Blotter: Cops Catch Two After Alleged Hit-and-Run

THURSDAY, JULY 19 After police saw a man make a traffic violation, they later found out he was driving on a revoked license, reports said. According to police, Melchor Rodriguez, 39, of Chicago was charged with felony driving while license revoked. Police said Rodriguez’s license was previously revoked for a charge of driving under the influence. According to reports, at about 4:16 p.m., police saw Rodriguez speeding in a Ford Explorer with an illegal front plate cover. He drove in between lines just before police stopped him, reports said. According to police, Rodriguez admitted to having no insurance and had three prior convictions for driving under the influence. Police charged Rodriguez with felony driving while license revoked, …

Police Blotter: Cops Bust Drug Swap

Evergreen Park police reports, July 19–21

SATURDAY, JULY 21 Alexander A. Jones, 29, of Chicago was charged with felony retail theft. Police said he took 13 items from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., valued at $697.75. According to reports, store security saw Jones enter the store with no merchandise then load various items into a shopping cart. Police said at about 7:57 p.m., Jones went to the service desk and said that he wanted to exchange one of the electronics items in his possession. Once the credit was issued for one of the items, Jones left the store without paying for the remaining items in his cart, police said. Store security stopped Jones upon exiting.   WEDNESDAY, JULY 25 Police arrested Fidel Caballero, 57, of Chicago and charged him with driving while license is revoked. Police saw Caballero driving a 1989 Toyota at about 8:26 a.m. with an expired registration plate at 95th Street and Western Avenue.  According to reports, the officer noticed a phony registration sticker on the license plate, and that Caballero’s license was revoked. Caballero was charged with felony revoked license, fictitious registration sticker, expired registration and no insurance. THURSDAY, JULY 12 Evergreen Park Police said when a man was shopping in Sam’s Club, 9400 S. Western Ave., someone had taken his wallet. The man said he reached for his wallet to pay for a membership and noticed it was gone, according to reports. Store security video showed Jannifer White, 28, of Chicago reach across the counter, grab the man’s wallet, then put it in her purse. Two hours after the incident, Sam’s Club security noticed that White was back in the store. “She said she found the wallet so she took it,” police said. Evergreen Park Police reports: July 4 - 7

SATURDAY, JULY 7 Evergreen Park Police charged Reshanda Davis, 29, of Markham with attempt obstructing police. According to reports, Davis gave false information to an officer while at a traffic stop. Police said they stopped Davis at 95th Street and St. Louis Avenue at about 4:31 a.m., because she didn’t signal while changing lanes. According to reports, she lied about her name and birth date and also had a Cook County warrant out for her arrest from 2003. Davis was also charged with suspended license and driving with no insurance. According to Evergreen Park Police, Mashawn Patton, 18, of Evergreen Park was arrested after allegedly threatening a person at McDonalds, 8715 S. Kedzie, saying that “he was going to go home and get a gun.” …

WEDNESDAY JULY 4 Steven Molina, 25, of Worth was charged with speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs, fleeing and attempting to elude police, having a blood alcohol content level of .08 or more and unlawful consumption of marijuana. Evergreen Park Police said at 5:05 a.m., officers stopped a car speeding down 95th Street near Troy Avenue. According to reports, while the officer spoke with Molina, he had trouble finding his driver’s license and handed the officer his debit card, then overlooked his insurance card several times. THURSDAY, JUNE 28 Evergreen Park Police charged Rayfield Drake, 19, of Chicago with retail theft. According to reports, at 5:35 p.m., he took two clothing items valued at $64.97 from Carson Pirie Scott, 9700 S. Western Ave. Police said he went into a dressing room, took the tags off, put the clothes in his backpack and attempted to leave the store. Store security found the tags in the dressing room, then stopped him on the way out, police said. According to police, a woman asked her boyfriend to pour sugar in someone else’s gas tank. TUESDAY, JUNE 26 Evergreen Park Police said after stopping a man for a traffic offense, they found drug paraphernalia in his car. Gregory C. Hart, 39, of Oak Lawn was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police reports said he had two glass pipes with burnt marijuana residue, a burnt medal cap commonly known as a heroin cooker plate, one box containing a heroin pipe in it, two Ziploc baggies with heroin residue and one metal grinder with marijuana residue. Police stopped the car for a traffic offense at 86th Street and Kedzie Avenue at about 7:21 p.m., reports said. THURSDAY, JUNE 21 Evergreen Park Police said a Florida resident was arrested after they found 10.5 grams of marijuana in her possession. According to reports, at 1:05 a.m., Rhonda M. Miller, 34, of Orlando was charged with parked where prohibited, improper use of registration, no valid registration, driving while license suspended, no insurance and illegal transportation of alcohol. Police said they saw a a black 1999 Lexus parked at a traffic light with the hazards on at the intersection of 96th Place on Kedzie Avenue. The driver was sitting in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition and said she ran out of gas, reports said. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20 According to reports, at about 5:29 p.m., three people took DVDs and video games from Walmart and attempted to leave the store. Evergreen Park Police said Tyrique Nawak, 19, of Chicago took six items valued at $59.84. According to police, Nawak took socks and a T-shirt, put them on, then tried to walk out of the store. Police arrested Gregory K. Richardson, 19, of Chicago, who took two items totaling $69.92. According to reports, Jamal Rogers, 18, of Chicago took five items with a value of 87.84. Police charged Nawak, Richardson and Rogers with retail theft.
