EP Mayoral Challenger Says She Will Fight To Get on April Ballot

Mayoral challenger Shawn Good has some interesting ideas for Evergreen Park, but first she must survive a petition challenge by two associates of Mayor James Sexton.

  Evergreen Park mayoral challenger Shawn Good’s back is pressed against the ropes in her bid to get her name on the ballot in the upcoming April election. Like many rookie candidates, an objection has been filed against Good’s nominating petitions for not being securely bound when turned into the village and for lacking the proper number of valid signatures. Orland Township Super, Law Firm Founder Disagree On Firing Reason

Communication problem or retaliation? Why Odelson and Sterk aren’t representing Orland Township any more all depends on who is asked.

Orland Township recently removed the Odelson and Sterk law firm as legal counsel for the government unit after about 15 years. Paul O’Grady, township supervisor, said Thursday that the firm was let go because of “communications problems,” and that they were holdovers from the last township board. Though on Sunday, O'Grady said when he joined the township board in 2008, he voted to keep Odelson on. "Despite this, the consensus opinion, one I shared at the time (in 2008), was to retain Mr. Odelson because we believed it would be more cost-effective for taxpayers given his institutional knowledge of the township government," O'Grady wrote in an email Sunday, when asked about when in the current board's three years did they take issue with the…
