The new drug store is planned for 95th and Pulaski

The wind chill outside the Evergreen Park Village Hall on Tuesday evening registered -3 degrees, but things got hot in a hurry in Council Chambers once several Village Board members grilled real estate development representatives about plans to build a Walgreens on the southeast corner of 95th and Pulaski. “I’m glad for the development. I welcome the development. But I have a lot of concerns,” said Trustee Carol Kyle. Most of those concerns voiced by Kyle and others relate to how the proposed 15,000-square-foot Walgreens (with a pharmacy drive-through) will affect the quality of life for residents of the 9500 block of south Harding.  Nearly a dozen of those residents were in the audience of about 40. Woman Busted for Phony Prescription

Police nabbed a Calumet City woman for attempting to get a fraudulent prescription filled at an Evergreen Park Walgreens.

A woman tried to submit a fraudulent prescription at an Evergreen Park Walgreens in order to obtain a controlled substance, police said. Police said Jasmine N. Spicer, 22, of Calumet City, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance for knowingly having less than 15 grams of a substance containing codeine through a fraudulent prescription. When the pharmacist at Walgreens, 3545 W. 95th St., received the prescription from Spicer, they notified the doctor that it was fraudulent, police said. When Spicer returned to pick up the prescription at around 12:32 p.m., the pharmacist called police, and they arrived and took her into custody. SUNDAY, JUNE 5 Lavita L. Washington, 39, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft for taking items valued at $17.73 from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., police said. Store security saw Washington on camera, removing cleaning items on shelves and placing them in her purse, police said. FRIDAY, JUNE 3 Edward S. Williams, 37, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft for taking one item valued at $49.88 from Walmart, police said. According to reports, store security saw Williams remove an Xbox 360 game from its packaging and put it in his right rear pocket. Police charged Diane M. Phillips, 59, of Chicago, with deceptive practice for issuing the Village of Evergreen Park a check that later bounced. According to reports, Phillips issued a $60 …

Monday, March 14: According to police reports, at 3:48 p.m., Sherman J. Jones, 18, of Aurora, was arrested on a retail theft charge at Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., when officers discovered a Visa credit card in his possession that was not in his name. Jones had no explanation why he had the credit card, and said he did not know the owner, but picked up the card off the ground, police said. Officers said they spoke to the owner of the credit card, who said her credit card was stolen, along with her wallet, from her office in Urbana, IL, and that she wanted to press charges. Jones was charged with felony possession of a stolen credit card, and also charged with retail theft. He's accused of stealing 12 electronics items valued at $185.32 from …

Police said they stopped Kennisha D. Copeland, 29, at about 9:52 p.m. at 94th and Western Avenue for a routine traffic stop. According to reports, Copeland gave police a state ID card in the name of Gloria Copeland and had no insurance. Copeland gave officers paperwork for an expired temporary vehicle registration, police said. Upon running Gloria Copeland's name in the system, officials said they found no record of a valid license. After taking Copeland into custody, police said they issued four citations in the name of Gloria Copeland. While they were asking personal information, officers said Copeland could not give a social security number or accurate details of her arrest record.
