Ruse Burglars Target Elderly Couple in Hickory Hills

Police are searching for two men who tried to lie their way into the couple's home.

Police are searching for two men involved in a Hickory Hills ruse burglary on March 8 that targeted an elderly couple. One is a 5-foot, 8-inch, heavy-set man with bad teeth who was wearing dark clothes, a reflective vest and a tool belt. The other man had his face covered. They were last seen leaving the area in a white minivan. The elderly couple lives near 94th Street and 77th Avenue in Hickory Hills. The heavy-set man walked up to the couple's door and claimed their neighbor had a basement water leak, police said. Cook County Sheriff Warns of Lottery Scam Targeting Elderly

Elderly victims cleaned out of $170,000 collectively in south suburbs from UK lottery scam.

If you didn’t buy a lotto ticket in the United Kingdom lottery but are getting badgered with emails and phone calls that you’re a winner, contact your local police department immediately. Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart warns residents not to be fooled by recent scams where “winners” are being told they are entitled to a large lottery cash prize without ever having purchased a ticket.
