County to Spray For Mosquitoes in Evergreen Park Monday Night
Evergreen Park residents might notice some odd looking trucks cruising through town this evening. Mosquito abatement trucks will spray throughout the village tonight.
As cases of West Nile virus continue to pop up in Evergreen Park and the surrounding suburbs, Cook County is looking to keep the local mosquito population in check. Monday evening, from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Cook County mosquito abatement trucks will be driving through the village's streets and alleys. According to village officials, the insecticide is completely harmless to both humans and pets. They do however recommend that those suffering from respiratory problems take precautions. The air is usually cleared within 30 minutes of the truck passing. As of Aug. 24, there have been 29 total cases of West Nile virus reported in suburban Cook County.
