Several schools were placed on lockdown as police searched for three suspects involved with a residential burglary in Evergreen Park Thursday afternoon.
Police made quick work in their search for three burglary suspects Thursday afternoon. On the afternoon of Sept. 13 three men burglarized a home on the 9100 block of Avers in Evergreen Park, said Lt. Peter Donovan. A neighbor noticed the crime and quickly called police. A search then began for the suspects, Donovan said. Dogs were brought in and a helicopter was used to in hopes of locating the men. They were all found within a few blocks of the home, Donovan said. As is customary in a manhunt, area schools were notified of the situation and several schools, including Northwest Elementary School and Most Holy Redeemer, decided to go on lock down for a short period of time. Police said a man connected to Saturday's robbery of the Bank of America branch in Oak Lawn has been charged with one count of robbery. Bank employees say they heard what sounded like the robber talking to another person outside the bank on a cell phone.

Oak Lawn Police confirm that bank robbery suspect is in custody after 11-hour standoff.
OUTSIDE CHICAGO, IL -- Police SWAT teams nabbed a man suspected of robbing an Oak Lawn bank on Saturday afternoon after an 11-hour standoff. Tammie, If some bank robber got away from the police. I would expect a code red phone call to my home from the police dept with a description of the man.or woman. Police believe bank robbery suspect is still in the building.
Update 12:20 a.m. Here is our last update on Saturday's bank robbery. More than 60 law enforcement officers, including Oak Lawn Police, the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, FBI and Cook County Sheriff's Police remain at the Bank of America shopping center as of midnight. A police perimeter has been set up around a Bank of America branch in Oak Lawn, where police said a robbery occurred this afternoon.
Updated 8:37 p.m. FBI and South Suburban Crime Reponse are searching the air conditioning ducts because blood was found earlier in the upstairs, Oak Lawn Division Chief Kaufmann said. Police are using remote control cameras to search inside the ducts. Two teams are searching; one FBI and one South Suburban Crime Response are doing the search. "They are still methodically looking, it's going to take time," Kaufmann said. Reports that police heard barricading are inaccurate.
