Famous Dave’s in Evergreen Park reopened Tuesday at 2 p.m. after its grand opening on Monday was interrupted by a car crashing through the front window. The barbecue restaurant at 2851 W. 95th St. will be open for business as usual today though the front of the building is sporting a wooden patch to cover the hole. Repairs are expected to be completed by sometime next week. No one was injured in the incident that happened just a few hours after the eatery opened to the public. Famous Dave’s is the third local business to survive a run-in with a car in recent months. Famous Dave’s barbecue is trying a new concept with it's Evergreen Park location set to open on Monday, Nov. 19, at 2851 W. 95th St. “It will be 3,600 square feet with seating for 104,” said manager Andre Pleasance. The eatery will be the chain’s eighth location in the Chicago area, all of them corporate owned. “That’s about half the size of a traditional Famous Dave’s,” he said. “It will be the first counter service Famous Dave’s in Chicago.” Customers will place their order and get a number for their table and the food will be brought to them. Restaurant Chain Famous Dave's will begin construction on a new location in Evergreen Park.
Evergreen Park will see a new barbecue restaurant in the village soon. Village Trustees unanimously approved a business regulation certificate for national barbecue chain Famous Dave's. The restaurant will be at 2851 W. 95th St. the former slot of The Little Gym. "This will be a very nice addition to 95th Street," said Mayor James Sexton at Monday's village board meeting. Trustees also approved a Class E liquor license for Famous Dave's that will allow the restaurant to sell beer and wine. Construction for Famous Dave's will start soon. When it opens in the village, it will operate from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays to Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. I live in Oak Lawn and feel the closing of both Sara Lee and Hostess is especially a blow to the seniors who shopped at these stores. I will miss the stores and wish the workers well; they were always so nice at the Sara Lee store in OL. more ›
