Mob of Teens Rob Man on Front Porch: Police Blotter

Evergreen Park police reports, April 9.

Police say a group of teens robbed and beat a man who was standing on the front porch of an Evergreen Park home.  On Tuesday, April 9, a 26-year-old man was standing on the front porch of a home on the 8700 block of Troy smoking a cigarette when a group of eight to 10 teen boys walked passed, police said. The teens began to shout at the man and then grabbed landscape bricks and a metal pipe from the front yars, police said. Some of the teens then began to assault the man and ripped a chain off of his neck, police said. The man's relatives inside the home heard the commotion and called police. Man Refuses to Pay Cab Fare, Hits Driver: Police Blotter

Evergreen Park police reports, Jan. 10-12

Two men face charges after they tried to get out of paying for a late night cab ride, according to Evergreen Park police.  On Saturday, Jan. 12 at 4:06 a.m. two men received a cab ride from a location in Bridgeview to Evergreen Park where they refused to pay the $26.20 fare, police said. Jordan Benoit, 22, of Chicago also took a swing at the cab driver and struck him with a closed fist, police said. Benoit and Jonathan Rickert, 21, of Evergreen Park, then got into another car and drove away, police said. Police in Bridgeview were able to track the registration of the car left in the parking lot to Rickert. When police pulled over a car driven by Benoit with Rickert in the passenger seat for not using a signal, they were able to match the …

Evergreen Park Fugitives Nabbed in Oak Lawn, Cops Say

Police picked up two people wanted on warrants during separate incidents.

Two Evergreen Park fugitives were taken into police custody last month in two separate incidents. A Burbank man was a passenger in a car that was stopped by Oak Lawn police after the driver of the vehicle was stopped allegedly for speeding on the 4900 block of West 95th Street around 1:07 a.m. Dec. 23. Greenwood According to the police report, the driver was in a hurry to get home and told police he was not aware he was going 50mph in a 30mph speed zone. Police: Evergreen Park Man Ran From Car, Shoved Officers

A 21-year-old Evergreen Park man accused of fighting with police and trying to run from them was arrested on Oct. 6. Tony Conway was charged with battery, fleeing and attempting to elude police, disobeying a stop sign, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license. Evergreen Park police said they began following Conway’s car near 88th Street and California Avenue around 7 p.m. because he appeared to be speeding. Conway blew through the intersection of 88th Street and Fairfield Avenue before parking in a nearby driveway, fleeing his car and hopping a fence, according to the report. Woman Attacked After Denying Man's Pleas for Free White Castle Burgers

Man charged with battery after police say he met a woman on a bus and later hit and kicked her near White Castle.

A man whose pleas for free Sliders were rejected by a woman on a bus accosted the woman near her workplace, punching and kicking her in retaliation for denying him a White Castle burger, police said. Ian C. McGhee, 33, of Calumet City, was charged with battery and accused of hitting a woman in the head with his closed fist several times, police said this week. Police said the woman got on a bus going westbound on 95th Street and sat next to McGhee, who asked her about her job at White Castle. When McGhee asked her “if she could hook him up with some burgers,” the woman said no, police said. McGhee got off the bus at Oakley Street, and the victim got off at 95th and Western. Carson's Shoplifter Bites Two Security Officers

Police say three customers stole from Carson's at The Plaza, and one was quite a biter.

Three women were caught stealing from Carson Pirie Scott at The Plaza, 2500 W. 95th St., and one injured two security officers by biting them, police said. At about 4:30 p.m. on April 18, police received a call that three women were fighting in the store parking lot. According to police reports, a store clerk saw Chicago residents Sandra L. Ramsey, 17, Kametta Coakley, 19, and Lakeshia N. Ramsey, 25, walking in the store, selecting items and concealing them in the bags they were carrying. According to reports, a clerk called security, then the women left through the west doors to the parking lot.
