Mira: Do you think the T-Bolts would benefit from a loss at some point?   more ›
Sandburg 56, Brother Rice 33: The Eagles dominate all facets of the game in routing the Crusaders in Orland Park.
The Skinny: Brother Rice jumped ahead 4-0 but Sandburg responded with a 9-0 run and never looked back en route to notching a 56-33 boys basketball victory on Tuesday night. Sandburg sophomore Malek Harris drained a 25-foot three-pointer to end the opening quarter and give the Eagles a 16-9 lead which seemingly demoralized the Crusaders. Sandburg opened the second quarter with a 9-0 run to leap ahead 25-9, and Brother Rice never made it much of a contest. It was a 58-point turnaround from last year's meeting as Sandburg was blasted at Brother Rice 78-42. Patch’s MVP: Sandburg senior Joe Kuligoski had a game-high 17 points and was also the top rebounder with nine. Key Stats: Brother Rice was held to only four field goals in the first half. …
Crusaders ran into a buzzsaw in regional final on Friday night when they dropped a 63-46 decision to highly ranked Lyons Township.
Brother Rice saw its boys basketball season come to end against with a 63-46 loss to Lyons Township on Friday night in the Class 4A Brother Rice Rectional. For the Crusaders, it was an uphill battle as the heavily favored Lions used their devastating halfcourt press to force 17 turnovers over the last three quarters. The Lions turned many of the turnovers into easy baskets. And they scored the easy baskets almost every time it appeared Brother Rice was trying to make a run. Probably no two stretches were more reflective of the devastating LT defense than the opening of the second quarter when the Lions outscored the Crusaders 11-0, taking a 21-10 lead. Then, with Brother Rice looking to make a comeback behind 6-4 sophomore Alex Majewski (…
Lyons Township 63, Brother Rice 46. Lions roar in regional final behind 20-point scoring performance from Eric Powers.
The Hot Read: Brother Rice and Lyons Township met in the championship game of the Class 4A Brother Rice Regional on Friday night, and the Lions scored a 63-46 victory in an atmosphere that harkened back to yesteryear. The gym was packed to the rafters with the Brother Rice Crazies (student cheering section) going wild and an equally charged LT contingent setting the stage for a classic. And, for about one quarter, that's what it looked like it might be, a classic as the two teams battled to a 10-10 tie. Unfortunately for Brother Rice and coach Pat Richardson, it all unraveled to start the second quarter when the heavily favored Lions flexed their collective muscle and scored the first 11 points, taking a 21-10 lead with 5 minutes left in …

1. Homewood-Flossmoor (22-5): Tim Williams, a 6-7 junior forward, looks more and more like his old self every time out. He returned from an ankle injury recently to give the Vikings a bigger presence in the lane. When opponents collapse on him, H-F has more room to operate on the perimeter. The Vikings hit 9-of-16 three-pointers through the first three quarters in a 66-34 victory over Marian Catholic. Next: Tonight vs. Plainfield Central in Class 4A Plainfield Central Regional title game. 2. Bloom (16-10): The Blazing Trojans’ season has played out like a roller-coaster ride. One day, they’re up. The next day, they’re down. Junior guard Donald Moore led the latest uptick. He scored 12 points, had three assists and three steals in a 41-34 …
