Elvis Tribute Artists ROCK Bourbon Street

Ex-Londoner chosen as Elvis tribute artist of 2013; Oak Lawn man voted "People's Choice" winner in Windy City competition.

Elvis tribute artists from around the country were taking care of business at 115 Bourbon Street to choose Chicago’s best Elvis impressionist of 2013 this weekend. For two nights, 16 performers sang and gyrated their pelvises in the Windy City Elvis Tribute Artist Competition. Ex-Londoner Anthony Shore, who resides in Minneapolis, took first-place honors; with David Allen of Dallas and South Bend, IN’s Irv Kass rounding out the king’s court in second and third. Shore seemingly channeled the kind nailing a difficult version of "My Way" in a rich baritone eerily reminscent of Elvis's. "He was the world's greatest entertainer," Shore told the packed house, whose British accent sounded more like Ringo's. "Everyone in the world knows who Elvis …

The South Side Irish Parade season kicked off Friday night at a pre-parade fundraiser.  The event at 115 Bourbon Street brought out about 1,200 attendees. Money raised goes toward the cost of hosting the parade. Patch was on hand capturing all the night's excitement.  Read: Patch Photo Booth: South Side Irish Pre-Parade Party The big parade takes place Sunday, March 10 on Western Avenue. This is its second year back after a brief hiatus. Community Packs Bourbon Street for Child with Rare Syndrome

Nearly 2,000 people filled 115 Bourbon Street Saturday, Aug. 18, to shower love over Mary Cate Lynch, an 8-month-old born with rare Apert Syndrome.

This is South Side, some said. This is who we are.  Nearly 2,000 Southland residents filed into 115 Bourbon Street to show support for one tiny member of the community—8-month-old Mary Cate Lynch. Mary Cate, whose family resides in Beverly, was born with Apert Syndrome. She is one of 25 children born in the U.S. each year with the syndrome, which is visible in malformations of the skull, face, hands and feet. Friends and family organized the fundraiser to help offset medical costs for Mary Cate, who will face up to 60 corrective surgeries and numerous therapies into her 20s—some of which have already begun. Read more about Mary Cate's condition and the journey ahead of her.  Mary Cate's mother Kerry, an Evergreen Park native and father …

Community Steps Up for Child with Rare Syndrome

Eight-month-old Mary Cate Lynch has a rough road ahead, as one of only 25 U.S. children born with Apert Syndrome each year. Her parents are spreading the word about Apert—while everyone shares their love for the little girl.

Fresh from her midday nap, 8-month-old Mary Cate Lynch bounces happily on her mother Kerry's lap. She giggles and reaches for ruffles on her shirt, and peeks at the stranger on the couch next to her. To Mary Cate, life is as simple as the woman holding her, kissing her cheek and stroking her hair.  Her innocence is bliss for Beverly resident Lynch and husband Chris. Mary Cate, born with the rare craniofacial syndrome Apert Syndrome, has a long—likely painful—journey ahead of her. She is one of 25 children born each year in the U.S. with Apert, which is visible in malformations of the skull, face, hands and feet. From now until the age of 20, "MC" will face up to 60 corrective surgeries and numerous therapies, some of which have already …

Photos: Giving Others a Reason To Give Thanks

Local party helps benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository with six live bands, festive atmosphere and more at 115 Bourbon Street.

Thanksgiving is a time for feasting, mounds of turkey with all the fixings piled on to a table surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. However, there are those, for a myriad of reasons, who are unable to celebrate the holiday with the customary mountain of food most Americans are accustomed to. For those in need of a little help, both on Thanksgiving and on any other day of the year, there is the Greater Chicago Food Depository. On Thanksgiving, the Phil Skilnik Foundation, in conjunction with 115 Bourbon Street, took a step towards helping those the depository helps through Chicago Bands Together. The fund raiser, which featured six bands, raffles and more, aimed to raise as much money as possible for the depository through a …
