It is split into two divisions: the Inspection Department and the Permit Department.
Residents may visit the Inspection Department, headed by Lolita Maxwell, to inquire about housing sales, register rental properties and schedule yearly inspections. Lori Cotter heads the Permit Department. With her, residents may obtain licensing registrations, permits or inquire about contractors.

The officers patrol the areas between Pulaski and Western avenues, and 87th and 103rd streets.
To ensure a safe community, Evergreen Park police officers patrol all of the schools in the village. There is an officer assigned to the DEA task force. The precinct is also a member of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and the 5th District SWAT Team, which Chief Saunders leads.
The department comprises a detective unit, K-9 unit, forensics unit, evidence submittal, an in-house range for officers and community safety programs DARE and GREAT. The Evergreen Park Police Association supports Evergreen Park youth through programs including the Tween Club, Evergreen Park Athletic Association, Evergreen Park Boys Club Baseball, Panthers Girls Softball, Evergreen Park Department of Recreation, Evergreen Park Community High School Scholarship Fund and the Annual Track Meet, among other programs.
