The Village of Evergreen Park is known as a "Village of Churches." Named after former Mayor Anthony Vacco, the VillageMore administration building is in the heart of Evergreen Park, just steps from the 95th and Kedzie streets intersection. Offices housed in the Administration Building include the Village Building Department, Police Department, Mayor's Office and Clerk's Office.

Led by Chief Michael Saunders, the Evergreen Park Police Department's station is in the heart of the village,More just steps away from the 95th and Kedzie intersection and housed in the same building as the mayor's office. Its 62 full-time officers and 10 part-time officers include a physician who's a trauma surgeon at nearby Christ Hospital. The officers patrol the areas between Pulaski and Western avenues, and 87th and 103rd streets.

To ensure a safe community, Evergreen Park police officers patrol all of the schools in the village. There is an officer assigned to the DEA task force. The precinct is also a member of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and the 5th District SWAT Team, which Chief Saunders leads.

The department comprises a detective unit, K-9 unit, forensics unit, evidence submittal, an in-house range for officers and community safety programs DARE and GREAT. The Evergreen Park Police Association supports Evergreen Park youth through programs including the Tween Club, Evergreen Park Athletic Association, Evergreen Park Boys Club Baseball, Panthers Girls Softball, Evergreen Park Department of Recreation, Evergreen Park Community High School Scholarship Fund and the Annual Track Meet, among other programs. The association's monthly board meeting is held every fourth Tuesday of the month at nearby American Legion Hall.

Committed to "serve and protect all members of the community," the Evergreen Park Police Department honored fallen soldier and former Evergreen Park Police officer Thomas Wortham, by retiring his star after his murder in 2010.
