<p>Founded in 1967, Northwest Elementary School adopts the same statewide motto as the other four schools in district 124, PBIS, "Positive Behavior Intervention and Support." Principal John Stanton and his faculty of 30 encourage students to "be safe, be caring, be here and be ready."</p>
<p>Students who attend Northwest receive a superior educational experience, in addition to several extra curricular activities. Parents run the school's sports program, where students play basketball or volleyball. Students also have the chance to participate in the student council and chorus.</p> <p>Northwest Elementary School is actively engaged in the community. They support causes including the Breast Cancer Awareness walk, Leukemia Research and Jump Rope for Heart. As the winner of the 2007 Academic Improvement Award, Northwest Elementary School is committed to excellence in education.</p>
