Mother McAuley Opens Season in the Sun

The Mighty Macs were one of the few softball teams able to play this past week—because they were in Florida.

Mother McAuley’s softball team opened its season with a trip to Florida—a great idea, considering the recent weather in the Southland.

The Mighty Macs won both games of a doubleheader against Clay High School, by scores of 10-0 and 5-2. The Macs fell 1-0 to Lakewood Ranch High School, then routed Bishop McLaughlin 16-0.

McAuley was led by Ashley Rogers, who pitched 10 innings and gave up just one run. At the plate, Erin O'Donnell hit .556 with three doubles, Molly Cummings was 3-for-3 with 7 RBIs, and Micaela Carney hit .500 with two triples and a .900 slugging percentage.
