Gimme 5: There's a Soft Side to Evergreen Park's Hard Thrower
Mustang pitcher Michelle Putlak has racked up the wins with a power game, but shows her compassion when she steps away from the softball diamond.
Evergreen Park junior starting pitcher Michelle Putlak has a competitive spirit when she’s in the center circle.
“I like pitching," Putlak said. "I like striking people out. It just makes me feel really good."
But she also has a sympathetic side to her.

“Sometimes I feel bad when I’m pitching against a bad team and I strike people out, but it still makes me feel good,” Putlak said.
The Mustang ace will help lead her team through a playoff run that starts on Tuesday, May 24, in the Evergreen Park Regional. The Mustangs play the winner of a quarterfinal matchup between Rich Central and Rich East.

Putlak hopes to continue her softball career in college. Ideally, she would play and go to school somewhere nearby, but not close enough to where she would commute from home. UIC, Loyola and Illinois Wesleyan are on her short list.
