Gimme 5: Sully Lives for the Big Moments

Brother Rice baseball catcher Conor Sullivan looks to end Crusader career on a high. Then, he's off to Ave Maria next year to play in the collegiate ranks.

Brother Rice senior catcher Conor Sullivan wants to go out a champion.

With the IHSA baseball playoffs underway, he and his Crusader teammates will have that chance over the next few days and weeks. Brother Rice plays against Homewood-Flossmoor on Wednesday in a semifinal of the H-F Regional. On Monday, the Crusaders defeated Thornton 11-1.

“I’m going to look back and hopefully I’m satisfied with a state championship,” Sullivan said.

“I like it when the game’s on the line: bases loaded, bottom of the seventh with a 3-2 count and I’m at the plate. I like pressure situations,” Sullivan said.

Who knows, he just might have the chance to get a game-winning hit in the coming weeks.
