New Evergreen Park boys basketball coach Patrick Flannigan has put in countless hours of coaching.

He started as an assistant girls basketball coach at Reavis before moving on to Luther South, where he was also the head softball coach. He became an assistant boys basketball coach at St. Rita, before going to Leo and then finally coming to Evergreen Park, where he has been an assistant boys basketball coach for 11 years.

He says the most rewarding aspect of coaching is helping with the development of the kids and working with his fellow coaches. One great example is Chris Burras, who played for Flannigan at Leo before continuing his career at Illinois State, and will be part of Flannigan’s coaching staff.

“I love the coaching fraternity—all the guys that I’ve worked with and worked against over the years,” Flannigan said. “And, number one is dealing with the kids.”
