Athlete of the Week: Mustangs' Putlak Packs Stats in IHSA Softball Playoffs
Evergreen Park junior pitcher Michelle Putlak allowed only one hit in two victories as the Mustangs won a regional championship.
Here’s Evergreen Park junior pitcher Michelle Putlak’s stat line for the last week: 12 innings pitched, two wins, 23 strikeouts, one hit allowed, zero runs permitted.
Oh, and did we mention that this was in the IHSA state playoffs?
The Mustangs won the Evergreen Park Regional championship, thanks in large part to Putlak. With her performance, she has been named Patch’s Athlete of the Week.

On Tuesday, . Then, on Saturday, Putlak threw a complete-game one-hitter in a 3-0 win over Kankakee in the Evergreen Park Regional championship game.
Putlak had 14 strikeouts and cruised to the victory after the Mustang offense put three runs on the board in the first inning. Erin Crane and Sophie Lamb each had RBI singles for Evergreen Park.
