Filing Deadline for Candidate Petitions Reached

Local races take shape for April 9 election. Mayor faces challenger, Dist 124 has one seat left to be filled.

The last day nominating petitions were accepted to get on the ballot for the April 9 consolidated election was Dec. 26.  

Four incumbents and two new candidates have filed to run for the Evergreen Park Village Board.

James Sexton is seeking re-election, and Shawn Good has announced her bid for mayor. Catherine Aparo has filed for re-election as village clerk.  Carol Kyle and Mark Phelan are the incumbents filing for trustee positions.

Trustee Jerry Bosch has decided not to run in the upcoming April elections. Dan McKeown has filed for his seat.

All except Good are members of the Good Government Party.

Evergreen Park village trustees run at large and are voted for by all residents in the village.

The library board has three full-term, six-year vacancies and two, two-year vacancies available.

Helen Tomczuk, Christopher Nugarus and Kathleen Savory have all filed to serve as trustee for a two-year term. Christina Ward, Virginia Chandler and Elizabeth Topa, have submitted petitions to serve as trustee for a six-year term

The Evergreen Park Elementary School District 124 school board has four seats available in the election. The terms of Beth Amado, John Kennedy, Terry McDonald, and Bob MacDonald will expire in April.

Challengers Julie Egan, Mary Pniewski and Raymond Richter have filed with the school district for three of those seats. No incumbents have filed for re-election.

Evergreen Park Community High School District 231 has four seats available in the election. The terms of Raymond Trzeciak, Cheryl Pinotti, Shaun Murphy and Thomas Sinon are up in April.

Two incumbents have filed for re-election including Raymond Trzeciak and Shaun Murphy. The Patch has reached out to the District Superintendent’s office for an updated list and is awaiting a return call.

UPDATE: A third incumbent Thomas Sinon and a new candidate, Thomas Schergen also have filed for seats in the upcoming Evergreen Park Community High School District 231 election in April.
