D124 Hires Consultants to Find Dr. Cody's Replacement

School Exec Connect has until the end of year to present highly skilled candidates to fill the role of superintendent.

Evergreen Park Community School District 124 has hired a consulting group to help find a replacement for Supt. Diane Cody when she retires at the end of the year.

School Exec Connection has several months to find, review and present the District 124 Board of Education with highly skilled candidates for superintendent.

The board approved a base contract on Wednesday for $16,500 which allots for another $600 to be spent on advertising and $1,500 on travel for out-of-state applicants, Assistant Supt. of Business Services Fran LaBella said.

A $10,000 longevity bonus which Cody would have received if she hadn't retired early will go toward paying School Exec, Board President Kathleen Rohan said.

Two other consulting groups interviewed for the position, one of whom cautioned board members that applications for superintendent positions have been diminishing in recent years because less teachers and principals are willing to endure the demands of the higher position.

On the bright side, the consultant added, District 124 board members have a reputation for working smoothly with one another and administrators, making them an attractive school district to work for.
