Evergreen Park Girls Swim Team Wins EP's Mustang Invitational

Over the weekend, the Lady Mustangs Swim Team hosted and won their annual girls swimming invitational on Saturday, September 29th. EP beat out some tough competition from the other five opponents including Oak Lawn, Richards, Bremen, Crete-Monee, and DeLaSalle. 

The first event of the meet started the Lady Mustangs off right with a win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Nielsen, Koronkiewicz, Townsend, and Lambton finished first leading the heat by over five seconds. Then, in the 200 freestyle, Stephanie Townsend and Britney Andersen finished 1st and fourth keeping the lead going for EP.

In the 200 IM, Mustangs swimmers Erin Nielsen and Kasey Nolan finished 2nd and 5th keeping a steady pace for the meet. The 50 Free came next with a huge finish with Victoria Lambton and Rachel Koronkiewicz going 1st and 3rd. 

Again, the girls stepped up in the 100 butterfly with a 2nd place and 4th place finish by Stephanie Townsend and Sam Gilhooly. Another win for Victoria Lambton came in the 100 yard freestyle and McKenna Moran finished 5th respectively. 

In the 500 freestyle, Kasey Nolan and Britney Andersen finished 1st and 4th with another strong event for the Lady Mustangs. In the 200 Free Relay, foursome Townsend, Koronkiewicz, Nolan and Lambton beat out the competition by seven seconds for the win. 

In the last two individual events of the meet, the Mustangs kept their strong lead with a 2nd and 3rd place finish in 100 backstroke from Nielsen and Gilhooly, and a 1st and 4th place finish in 100 breaststroke with Koronkiewicz and Katelyn Luckett. 

The meet ended with Evergreen Park finishing 2nd in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with swimmers Andersen, Moran, Easterhouse and Nolan. Great job Lady Mustangs!!
