The bare bones of what happened at Monday's Village Board Meeting

The Village Board met Monday evening, granted several requests and discussed the season's salt usage, among other village business. Here were a few hot topics:

Salt usage update

Mayor James Sexton said the village has used 2,278 tons of salt this winter through February. According to him, this is similar to the winter of 2008-9. "We're up 600 tons from last year," said Sexton.

How much did the Village spend on bills last month?

The village approved Resolution No. 9-2011, the amount of money spent out of several funds in February. Out of the general corporate fund, the sewer and water funds, and the capital improvement funds, the village spent a grand total of $704,480.25.

How much cash did the Village bring in last month?

The Water Collector collected $400,883.10 last month, while the Village Collector took in $1,500,884.23.

What Businesses did the Board approve Regulation Certificates for?

  • First Attorneys Consultants will move from 3356 West 95th St. to 335 West 95th St.
  • Anna's Linens, which has been closed after being originally located in The Plaza, 9500 South Western Ave., received approval to move across the street at 2500 West 94th St.
  • Reliable Wired Cable, a cable wire storage company, received approval to move its office to 9834 South Kedzie Ave.
  • Sally Beauty Supply, 2508 West 94th St., received approval to move next door to 2510 West 94th St.

Ordinance 3-2011 omitted

The Board of Trustees did not vote on Ordinance 3-2011 as planned. It was an ordinance that amended which amends a chapter that allows extraneous flows from water, sewers and sewage disposal to enter into the sanitary sewer system.

"It was all part of a grant that we were looking for, and it's not necessary," said Sexton.

Requests Granted

  • Sexton declared the month of March 30 to April 30, 2011 Brain Awareness Month. 
  • The Board approved The Evergreen Park Girls Softball League's request for a parade on April 16 at .
  • The Village Board of Trustees approved a request from , 3447 West 95th St. to hold its second Annual Irish Bike Parade to support the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
