The bare bones of what happened at Monday's Village Board Meeting

The Village Board met Monday evening, granted several requests and discussed the construction of Chase Bank, among other village business. Here were a few hot topics:

Chase Bank Construction Update

Mayor James Sexton and the village board approved a business regulation certificate for JPMorgan Chase Bank & Co. on a section of the 9500 S. Kedzie lot. . At the village board meeting Monday, Sexton said construction should start in the next few months. The village has asked for a $10,000 per year easement fee to use the alley that's located right next to the lot.

How much did the Village spend on bills last month?

The village approved Resolution No. 11-2011, the amount of money spent out of several funds in March. Out of the general corporate fund, the sewer and water funds, and the capital improvement funds, the village spent a grand total of $551,761.73.

How much cash did the Village bring in last month?

The Water Collector collected $559,924.48 last month, while the Village Collector took in $2,765,638.35.

What Other Businesses did the Board approve Regulation Certificates for?

  • The Village board approved a certificate for Jung I. Jun, M.D., S.C., a physician's office, to move from 3900 W. 95th Street to 2850 W. 95th Street, Ste. 11.
  • Trustees approved a regulation certificate for Advanced Pain and Anesthesia Consultants, offering pain management, at 9760 S. Kedzie Ave., Ste. 8.

Requests Granted

  • Sexton declared the week of April 10-16 as National Crime Victims' Rights Week, after the request from the Crisis Center of South Suburbia.
  • The Board approved a request from residents of the 9500 block of California for permit parking. Sexton said residents had problems from hospital patrons parking on the west side of the street, and the homes have no driveways. 
  • The Village Board of Trustees approved a request to pass Resolution 10-2011, approving the 43rd Annual Independence Day Parade on July 1, 2011. Sexton said the parade will go on that date, but in case of rain, fireworks will be on July 3.

Miscellaneous Items and Announcements

  • Village director William Lorenz said the Senior Center HVAC project incurred about $19,000 worth of extras. "We came in very close to what we budget," he said, using a total of about $390,000.
  • The village is accepting bids for the 2011 Alley Paving Project, to repave three alleys in commercial areas and the 2011 Street Patching Project.
  • Youth Commission director Jim Feltz, said students are available to help for spring cleaning. He also thanked Chief Ronald Kleinhaus for the department's donating a television to the Youth Commission recreation room.
  • Recreation Department head Dennis Duffy announced that April 16, 9 a.m. - noon there will be an at the Activity Center at 98th and Kedzie Ave., and an the same day from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the
