Village Board Briefer: Amended Parking Rules, More New EP Real Estate Developments and Charitable Events

The bare bones of last night's village board meeting.

The Village Board met this week, granted several requests and voted to restrict trucks from parking in a parking lot at 94th and Western Avenue, among other business. Here were a few hot topics:

Evergreen Park is on the Green Move

Trustees honored a request to begin an Electronics Recycling Collection Agreement between the Village of Evergreen Park and Vintage Tech Recyclers. Monitored by Village Streets and Parks Department head William Lorenz, the program starts immediately, said Lorenz. Residents can drop off a variety of recyclable electronic equipment to 3225 W. 93rd St., where representatives from Vintage Tech Recyclers will regularly pick up items. The program, Mayor James Sexton said, is at no cost to the village. A list of acceptable items will be coming soon.

Amended Special Parking Rules

Trustees voted unanimously to approve Ordinance 11-2011, which restricts stopping, standing or parking in private lots. The biggest problem this will curtail is semi trucks parking in the Standard Bank parking lot at 94th and Western, Sexton said. "We've been having a lot of problems with that," said Sexton. "...it is not a designated truck stop."
