Library Recognized for Serving as an Outstanding Community Resource

The Evergreen Park Public Library was recently recognized by the AT&T "Investing in Illinois Award," because of its consistent efforts to improve lives in the village.

The creativity and hard work of the staff at the has earned it statewide recognition. This week, the library was given an AT&T Investing in Illinois Award, contributing $2500 to support programs and services.

"It is gratifying to be recognized by AT&T for the Library’s support of the educational, cultural, and recreational needs of our community,” said library director

Throughout the year, the library fills its calendar with classes, lectures and entertainment for residents of all ages, priding itself on serving as a true resource to the village.

“We are reminded that the Library is an important resource and the go-to place for so many in the community. This award encourages us to continue to evaluate our materials, programs, and services for relevancy to our users,” said Seidl. According to her, the library will use the money to purchase books for its free, community-wide summer reading program.

“The Evergreen Park Library is a ‘Jewel of the Community.’ Its impact on our residents, youth, adult and seniors is tremendous,” said State Sen. Edward Maloney (D-18th), who nominated the library for the award with Rep. Kelly Burke (D-36th).

"At a time when many libraries have reduced their services, the Evergreen Park Public Library finds creative means and resources to expand its service to Evergreen Park and surrounding communities," said Burke.

AT&T said it chose to recognize the Evergreen Park Public Library because of its constant effort at “improving the quality of life for local residents and strengthening the fabric of our state,” said external affairs director Jerry Mytych. “AT&T Illinois has a proud history of making corporate contributions to Illinois non-profit groups and programs that are making a difference in local communities.”
