Evergreen Park Chamber Invites Community to Party

Also at Monday's meeting of the Village Board, Evergreen Park Chamber of Commerce President Helen Cuprisin, owner of the Alphabet Soup graphic design and typesetting company, reminded everyone about the chamber’s Christmas Luncheon, set to begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 12 at the Beverly Country Club.

Election of 2013 officers and directors will take place at the event. The chamber’s slate for 2013 includes (President) Mike Dillon, South Division Credit Union; (First Vice President) Christy Hernandez, Archer Bank; (Secretary) Ginger Morgan, Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home; (Treasurer) Ron Kulak, US Bank; (Immediate Past President) Helen Cuprisin, Alphabet Soup; and (Directors) Dr. Beth Hart, Evergreen Park HS; Jeff Keyser, Florida Plastics; Brian McKeown, Standard Bank & Trust; Rich Menke, Evergreen Bank; George Pappas, Pappy's Restaurant; Barbara Pelcher, Southwest Messenger Press; and Tom Ollenburger, H&R Johnson Brothers.

Lunch tickets are $35 per person and may be purchased through the Chamber’s website. All Evergreen Park residents, whether they own a business or not, are welcome to attend.

Senior Citizens Give Check

Virginia Wrobel and Ann Dykstra of the Evergreen Park Senior Citizens’ Council presented a $1,000 check to Mayor Sexton and Office of Citizen’s Services Director Jolene Churak, for the ongoing maintenance and operation of the popular OCS mini-bus, which provides curb-to-curb transportation for local senior citizens and adults with disabilities.

City Lights Orchestra to Play Music of the Season

Mayor Sexton noted that Rich Daniels and the City Lights Orchestra will president a holiday concert on the evening of Sunday, December 9 at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 9600 S. Lawndale. Tickets are free, but must be reserved.

 Village Board urges Pearl Harbor Commemoration

Additionally, the board agreed to encourage everyone in the village to fly flags at half-staff on Friday, December 7 to honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor 71 years ago.
