Cops Stop Underage Drinking and Driving
When saw a man run a red light at 4:20 a.m., they ended up finding open alcohol in his car. Police charged Mark D. Matke, 19, of Evergreen Park with disobeying a traffic control device, no proof of insurance and illegal transportation of alcohol. According to reports, Matke was also charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while in possession of marijuana and underage consumption of alcohol.
Police responded to a call of a suspicious car at 93rd Street and Kedzie. Avenue, reports said. According to police, after police stopped Matke for running a red light, they recovered 1.3 grams of marijuana, two glass pipes, one wooden pipe and an open beer can.

Carson’s Retail Theft
At 12:40 p.m., police charged Iralle B. Murphy, 27, of Chicago with retail theft. Police said he took one T-shirt and one pair of jeans totaling $64.99 from Carson Pirie Scott, 9700 S. Western Ave.

Cops Spot Pot on a Traffic Stop
Police said they found marijuana in a man’s car after stopping him for a traffic offense. Devan J. Jones, 23, of Chicago was charged with possession of marijuana. Police said he had one gram of marijuana. Police also charged him with failure to signal and driving with a suspended driver’s license. At 5:33 p.m., tactical officers saw him fail to use his signal when he exited a gas station at the intersection of 87th Street and California Avenue, reports said. When police stopped him, they found out that his license was suspended and discovered marijuana in his glove compartment.
Walmart Retail Theft
According to reports, Michael Carney, 36, of Chicago was charged with retail theft. Police said at 7:16 p.m., he took one item valued at $142.93 from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St.
Man Caught Swiping DVD’s
Police charged Gregg Parker, 57, of Chicago with retail theft. According to reports, at 4:58 p.m., he took two Blue Ray DVD’s valued at $27.84 from Walmart.
