Store Employee Schemed to Under-ring $3K in Appliances: Police

Tyisha D. Ward, 21, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft, police said.

A Chicago woman and employee at Menards in Evergreen Park is accused of under-ringing almost $3,000 worth of appliances, police said.

Tyisha D. Ward, 21, of the 700 block of East 133rd Street, was charged with felony retail theft, Evergreen Park police said. Bail was set at $50,000.

Police said Ward failed to scan a stainless steel refrigerator worth more than $2,800 and an electric saw valued at $49.98 on Aug. 27 inside the department store, located at 9100 S. Western Ave.

Ward made arrangements with another woman and two men to steal the merchandise, police said. A manager found out about the scheme from another employee and alerted authorities.

Ward is due on Sept. 18 in Bridgeview court.
