South Suburban DUI Arrests, Dec. 29

Driving without headlights on at night is not only illegal but often a dead giveaway for drunken drivers. See who made it obvious for police in this week's roundup of Southland DUI reports.

MOKENA

Dec. 15: A Lockport man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled him over for driving without his headlights on at night.

Robert J. Golden, 42, of the 17800 block of South Mitchell Lane in Lockport, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without headlights turned on.

A Mokena police officer was driving east on 191st Street near 104th Avenue when a truck was seen driving west without headlights on around 1:50 a.m. The officer also saw the truck weave slightly in its lane and pulled it over, according to the report. The driver, Golden, said he didn’t know that his headlights were off, the truck’s inside smelled like alcohol, police said.

He denied drinking at first but then admitted to drinking earlier in the night, according to the report.

NEW LENOX

Dec. 22: The New Lenox cops apprehended a couple of alleged drunken drivers.

The police first pulled over Ryan McGuire, 24, of 715 Ogden Road in New Lenox shortly after 3 a.m.

McGuire was allegedly driving with his headlights off when he was stopped near the corner of Independence Boulevard and Nelson Road.

An officer "discovered that McGuire was under the influence of alcohol," police said. McGuire was charged with that and driving without headlights.

McGuire was released from custody after posting bond.

Then, shortly before 5:30 p.m., an officer spotted a "suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of businesses in the 100 block of Illinois Highway," police said.

The officer investigated this suspicious vehicle, police said, and "discovered that the driver," 55-year-old Debra Neville of 1308 Corrie Lane in New Lenox, "was under the influence and in possession of drug equipment and cannabis," police said.

Neville was charged with driving under the influence, possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment. She was released from custody after posting bond.
