Shoplifter Caught with Stolen FEMA Check
Police said a woman who stole from Walmart also had someone else's FEMA check in her purse.
A woman caught stealing from Walmart also had someone's FEMA check in her purse.
Police said Thiquita L. Hughes, 21, of Chicago, took nine assorted clothing items, valued at $70.65, from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., at about 3:15 p.m. on May 7. According to reports, she also had a United States Treasury FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) check belonging to someone else.
Reports said store security saw Hughes walking in the electronics department, take a CD and putting it in her purse. Police said after she walked around for a bit, Hughes put several clothing items in her purse, went to the toy department and then walked out of the store.

While completing an inventory check of the property at the station, police said they found the FEMA check made out to someone else. It was valued at $1,806.
Police said Hughes was ultimately charged with retail theft for stealing from Walmart and theft of lost or mislaid property for having the FEMA check and failing to return it to its owner.
