Police: Man Tried to Pick Up Girl Walking to School

The Evergreen Park Police Department has issued a community warning about a suspicious vehicle.

Friday afternoon Evergreen Park Police sent out a warning to residents alerting them to an incident that occurred earlier that day. 

Police say that on Friday, Oct. 25 a vehicle pulled up next to a child walking to school and attempted to lure her into the car. The following is the warning issued by police: 

A Safety Message from the Evergreen Park Police Department

This morning; October 25, 2013; at about 7:30 am a female student was walking in the 2700 block of W 98th St going to Central Junior High School.

At that time a subject described as a male white; mid 40’s, average build, bald, black or brown mustache and wearing a black jacket was driving a black four door Chevrolet Suburban with tinted windows.

The subject slowed the vehicle, rolled the window down and spoke to the student. He said “Do you want a ride? Get in.”

The student did not reply and the subject drove off. The vehicle was last seen going south on S. Washtenaw Ave. from W 98th St.
