Police: False Reports, Drugs and Paraphernalia, Oh My

Evergreen Park police reports, Feb. 10-16

THURSDAY, FEB. 16

We Just 'Needed a Ride Home'

 arrested Tamara E. Taylor, 21, of Chicago and charged her with felony disorderly conduct, according to reports. Police said Taylor and a juvenile filled out a false report for an armed robbery, because they said “they needed a ride home.” Evergreen Park police said they responded to a robbery at the BP gas station in the 2600 block of West 95th Street at about 2:44 a.m. According to reports, Taylor and the juvenile claimed a man attempted to rob them and was carrying an AK-47 assault rifle. Taylor admitted to making up the story when officers took them to the police station, according to reports.

Cops Arrest Man for Filing Fake Report 

Police said a man filed a false police report, claiming his car was hijacked and he was the victim of an armed robbery at 97th Street and Campbell Avenue. Police said they charged Dwayne E. Dixon, 44, of Calumet City with felony disorderly conduct. Dixon told his story to police, but when officers brought the alleged victim to the station, Dixon admitted he made the story up, according to reports.

Man Caught with Marijuana

Jeremiah P. Collins, 19, of Tinley Park was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. At about 4:46 p.m., when police stopped a car at 91st Street and California Avenue with an expired state registration sticker, they could detect a strong odor of marijuana, according to reports. Police said they saw Collins, a passenger in the car, stick something between the back seat and the door. Police said they found a clear plastic bag containing marijuana in Collins’ pocket and in the side part of the door, all totaling 0.8 grams.

Woman Takes Over $300 in Walmart Merchandise

Police arrested and charged Amber N. James, 40, of Blue Island with retail theft. According to reports,  at about 12:50 p.m., James took 15 items totaling $369.82 from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St. Police said James put several medicinal products in an open store container inside of a shopping cart, then placed it into a Walmart bag that she was carrying. According to reports, James paid for some of the items she had, but not all of them. Store security caught her upon exiting, police said

SATURDAY, FEB. 11

Police Catch Man Fleeing an Accident

At about 3:13 a.m., an officer on patrol saw a Chevrolet driving fast on 95th Street strike a streetlight pole at Utica Avenue and keep going. Police said they lost sight of him, but he had a second accident in the 9300 block of Country Club Drive, where he hit a fire hydrant and a tree. Police said they arrested Antinio Mayorga, 34, of Chicago, and charged him with driving too fast for conditions, failure to reduce speed, damage to village property, leaving the scene of an accident, property damage, improper lane use, fleeing and eluding the police, no valid driver’s license, and no proof of insurance. Mayorga was also charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and reckless driving, according to reports.

Cops Catch Man Hiding Drugs

Police said they charged David J. Whitty, 40, of Chicago with possession of a controlled substance at about 9:27 p.m. According to reports, he had 10 2-miligram alprazolam pills, but no prescription. Police said they saw him tucking something behind his back as they approached his car in the 9100 block of Kedzie Avenue. While searching Whitty, police said they found a Ziploc bag hanging out of his pocket with the yellow pills in it.

Woman Rats Herself Out

Police said they charged Kristin M. Love, 26, of Chicago with possession of drug paraphernalia after she owned up to the crime before even being questioned. Love was in possession of 30 syringes used to inject heroin, two glass pipes used to smoke cocaine, three metal caps used to cook heroin and one rubber band, reports said. While tactical officers were on patrol in the 9100 block of Kedzie Avenue at about 8:40 p.m., they said they noticed two “suspicious subjects” in a gas station lot, pacing back and forth near air pump. As police approached, “Love became emotional, saying she didn’t want to go to jail for the needle she had in her purse,” according to reports. Police said they recovered the paraphernalia from Love, but since the other person wasn’t carrying anything, he wasn’t charged.

Woman Lifts Lingerie from Walmart

Police arrested a woman who they said took several pieces of lingerie and women’s personal care items from Walmart. According to reports, Keisha House, 18, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft. Police said she stuffed five items valued at $52.76 into a bag she was carrying and attempted to leave the store at about 7:11 p.m. Store security caught her as she was leaving, according to police.

FRIDAY, FEB. 10

Police Arrest Man for Criminal Trespass

Michael T. West, 36, of Calumet City, was charged with criminal trespass to real property. According to police, West stayed on Walmart property after being asked to leave. Police said they arrested him at about 10:45 p.m.
