Police Blotter: Walmart Thefts, Cutting Off an Ex

MONDAY, APRIL 25

Retail Theft and Drug Paraphernalia

Loss prevention officers observed a woman taking multiple items totaling $55 while shopping at Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., reports said. Pamela Barrow, 40, of Chicago was charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said Barrow was observed stashing merchandise in her pockets and hiding items beneath a bag of dog chow. She paid for some items at the checkout but walked out with the rest, including makeup, earrings, jewelry, body wash, Febreeze and a toe ring. While loss prevention officers detained Barrow, a pipe with unknown residue was recovered, reports said.

Evergreen Park Man Busted for Pot

Police observed a man acting suspiciously, pacing back and forth at a bus stop at 89th and California around 5:12 p.m. on April 25, reports said. William Battieste, 26, of Evergreen Park, was charged with possession of marijuana. According to police, Battieste was talking on his cell phone and did not get on the bus when it pulled up. Instead, he went to sit on a park bench. When cops asked him if he was in possession of anything illegal, Battieste told them he had weed. Police recovered 17 small bags containing 10.3 grams of what tested positive for cannabis.

Reckless Behavior

Brian Theilmann, 38, of Evergreen Park, was charged with reckless conduct after his ex-wife said Theilmann intentionally swerved in front of her car around 2:30 p.m. on April 25. Theilmann’s ex-wife said she met her ex-husband to pick up their daughter’s meds. As Theilmann drove away he pulled up alongside of her car and swerved in front it, causing her to slam on her brakes, reports said. Police said Theilmann crossed in front his ex-wife’s car again and sped off southbound on Kedzie. He also called his ex-wife and threatened to blow up her boyfriend’s car and shoot them both. Theilmann turned himself in at the Evergreen Park police station the next day and was charged with reckless conduct.

Big Haul at Walmart 

A Chicago man and his girlfriend were charged with retail theft when they were spotted hauling off 53 items totaling $238 by loss prevention officers at Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., reports said. Frank H. Campbell, 45, was charged with felony retail theft. His girlfriend, Windy Johnson, 42, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft. According to police, and Campbell was spotted loading select clothing, candy, toiletries and lotions into a bag held by Johnson around 4:23 p.m. on April 23. Both were nabbed as they left the store.

Batteries Included

Deeric Russell, 21, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft after he was spotted hiding headphones and batteries in his coat pocket at Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., police said. According to police reports, Russell was observed taking the items from the electronics session around 8:40 a.m. on April 23.

After receiving a tip of a man selling pot, undercover police set up a drug sting with an alleged pot dealer around 7:48 p.m. on April 22. Martin Roberson, 26, of Chicago, agreed to meet police at 87th Street and California Avenue. Police said they found Roberson in his car with a lap full of weed, with another 13 bags of weed in his coat pocket. Roberson was charged with possession and intent to deliver a controlled substance, driving without a valid driver’s license and no car insurance.
