Stealing from a Walmart Employee

Bill P. Woody, 25, of South Holland, was charged with retail theft for stealing from an employee at Walmart, 9400 S. Western Ave., according to police reports. Police said the Walmart employee walked into the store's electronics department at about 4:22 p.m., placed his black canvas book bag on the shelf, then immediately began working. He said he walked around the corner and when he came back, his book bag was missing. Police said the employee contacted staff and loss prevention.

When security looked at the surveillance camera, they saw Woody take the book bag, police said. Woody went outside with the book bag and security detained him, police said. According to reports, the Walmart employee had $473 worth of gaming accessories in his bag.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 11

CD Player Stolen from Walmart 

Police said Anthony R. Hicks, 34, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft for stealing an item valued at  $28.36 from Walmart. According to reports, store security saw Hicks enter the electronics area and take an RCA personal CD player from the display racks at about 4:59 p.m. He then cut the package open with a knife and removed the CD player, put it in his pocket and left the store, police said. A criminal background check revealed that Hicks had previous convictions of burglary and was therefore charged with a felony, police said.
