Police Blotter: Walmart, CVS Retail Thefts Charged

MONDAY, MARCH 7

Felony Retail Theft Charged

Leonardo Magana, 35, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft for taking $231.98 worth of cosmetics items from CVS, 3201 w. 95th St, police said. According to police reports, Magana took 32 assorted cosmetics items off of display racks and concealed them in his shirt, then walked out of the store heading westbound. Police said they caught him at the intersection of 95th Street and Spaulding Avenue at 9:19 p.m. Magana's charge was a felony because of previous retail theft convictions, according to police.

Police said Albert M. Taylor, 31, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft for stealing four items valued at $94.84 from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St. According to police reports, Taylor concealed four video games in his jeans. Police said store security caught Taylor about 2:30 p.m. upon exiting the store.

SUnDAY, MARCH 6

Walmart Retail Theft Charged

Two women were charged with retail theft for stealing from Walmart. Police said Chanel A. Richard, 20, of Chicago, took three video games and a pack of sim cards all valued at $129.84. Myra P. Gardner, 19, of Chicago, took one sim card valued at $49.96, police said. According to police reports, store security saw the two women in the electronics department at 7:46 p.m. as they put the items in their coats. Police said store security caught them as they exited the store.
