TUESDAY, JUNE 26

Cops Find Paraphernalia on a Traffic Stop

said after stopping a man for a traffic offense, they found drug paraphernalia in his car. Gregory C. Hart, 39, of Oak Lawn was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police reports said he had two glass pipes with burnt marijuana residue, a burnt medal cap commonly known as a heroin cooker plate, one box containing a heroin pipe in it, two Ziploc baggies with heroin residue and one metal grinder with marijuana residue.

Police stopped the car for a traffic offense at 86th Street and Kedzie Avenue at about 7:21 p.m., reports said. While talking with officers, police said Hart admitted to having drug paraphernalia inside his van. Police said they then found the additional paraphernalia.

Man Takes Wrong Turn in Sam’s Club

Police arrested a man after he was seen taking a GPS system from Sam’s Club, 9400 S. Western Ave. According to reports, Patrick W. Roche, 30, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft. Police said at about 4:53 p.m., he took a Garmin GPS system valued at $109 to the store bathroom, then exited with empty hands. According to reports police found the box in the bathroom and the GPS system on Roche.

Man Nabbed on Retail Theft, Resisting Arrest Charges

According to reports, Craige A. Johnson, 24, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft. Police said he took two items valued at $49.87 from Walmart. According to reports, at about 6:36 p.m., Johnson said purchased items that he did not pay for and attempted to return them for a full refund. After later checking surveillance video, guards saw him take items from the shelf, reports said. When store security went to arrest Johnson, he resisted and “continued to fight when the officer announced himself,” police said. Johnson was also charged with resisting arrest.

THURSDAY, JUNE 21

Video Shows Man Taking Band Student’s Bike

Police arrested Devante A. Porter, 18, of Evergreen Park and charged him with theft. According to reports, at around 12:02 p.m., Porter took a bicycle belonging to someone else that had a value of about $300 or less. Police said the bike was parked behind bushes while the juvenile victim was attending band practice in the 9900 block of South Kedzie Avenue. Surveillance video from Evergreen Park Community High School showed Porter going behind the bush where the bike was parked, grabbing the bike and riding away, police said. He was later identified, police said, and the bike was recovered.
