Evergreen police reports, June 17-20

MONDAY, JUNE 20

Stealing Cash from Work

Sharrod L. Peoples, 19, of Chicago, was charged with theft around 7 p.m. for stealing cash from the Carson Pirie Scott store where he worked, police said. On at last 25 occasions between late March and middle June, Peoples stole a total of $1,970 from a store cash register, police said. Store security told police that, after first noticing shortages in his drawer, they caught Peoples on video stuffing money into his sock and pocket on several occasions. The state’s attorney’s office denied felony charges.

Earrings in Pants

Sonia Romo, 37, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft for stealing a single item from Walmart worth $5, police said. Store security told police that Romo put a packet of earrings down the front of her pants and left the store around noon without paying for it.

The Old Spice Challenge?

Lawrence Scott, 58, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft for stuffing eight bottles of deodorant down his pants and leaving Walmart around 1 p.m. without paying for them, police said. The items were valued at $33. Police said they charged Scott with a felony because of his past criminal history.
