Police Blotter: Retail Theft, Assault Reported at Walmart

Felony Retail Theft Reported

Police said Kimberly Long, 42, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft after stealing from Walmart, 2500 w. 95th St. According to police reports, store security saw Long take several CDs and videos from the electronics department at about 1:43 p.m. Police said security then saw Long go to the women's department, take a bra, and put all but one item in her large black leather purse. Long proceeded to the checkout, where she paid for one of the 20 items, and then walked out without paying for the other 19, police said. According to police reports, the 20 items totaled $333.14. Police said the crime was ruled a felony because Long had a previous retail theft conviction.

  • Chicago resident Carita McBride, 19, was charged with retail theft after police said she stole seven pieces of clothing totaling $25.40 from Walmart around 3 p.m. According to reports, a loss prevention clerk saw two females in the store take clothing from the women's department, then go to the toy department where they concealed the items in their purses. Police said McBride and the other female with her left the store without paying. The other female was not charged because she was underage and considered a juvenile, police said.
  • Miriah Simmons, 24, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft. Police said store security saw Simmons take several pieces of clothing from Walmart's women's department, put the items in a shopping bag, then leave the store without paying around 9:45 p.m. Police said the total value of the clothing was $59.50.
FriDAY, FEB. 18

Aggravated Assault Alleged

Police said a woman pulled a knife on someone for allegedly stealing her parking space at Walmart. Police said Virginia Finley, 26, from Chicago, got into an argument with a woman in Walmart's parking lot at about 3:55 p.m. over a parking space. "Oh, I was waiting for that parking spot," the woman talking to Finley said, according to police reports. Police said Finley was charged with aggravated assault after pulling a five-inch-blade kitchen steak knife out and telling the woman, "I will slash you in half."
