Reckless Driving Leads to Multiple Offenses
James R. Benjamin, 21, of Oak Lawn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, unsafe equipment for driving and no proof of insurance.
According to police reports, officers saw someone driving recklessly at 4:16 a.m., with both front tires flat and on the rims, going east on the 3500 block of 95th Street. Police said the muffler and other vehicle parts were dragging, with sparks coming from the bare rims. Officers stopped the vehicle in the 9500 block of Homan Avenue and approached the driver, who was slouched down in the seat, police said. According to reports, when police asked Benjamin where he was coming from, he said he came from a bar and stated, “I’m not going to blow.” Police said he then exited the car with slurred speech, mumbling and rambling incoherently. Benjamin refused field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer test at the police station, police said.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Marijuana, Obstructed Windshield
Amanda N. Burke, 20, of Chicago was charged with driving with an obstructed windshield and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police said Burke had 1.4 grams of marijuana, one glass smoking pipe and one glass smoking bowl.
Officers made a traffic stop at 7:15 p.m. of a Ford on the 3200 block of 102nd Street for having an obstructed windshield, police said. According to reports, the officers smelled marijuana coming from the car and asked Burke if she had anything illegal in the car. Police said Burke handed over a baggie containing marijuana. When they took her into custody, they found the pipe and bowl in her purse, police said.

Marijuana Possession
Police said Dylan T. Kellogg, 19, of Evergreen Park, was charged with possessing 2.1 grams of marijuana.
At 10:44 p.m., officers were sent on a call of a suspicious car at the intersection of 99th Street and California Avenue. According to reports, the caller told the dispatcher that a blue Oldsmobile was circling the area. Officers said they saw the car traveling northbound in the 9700 block of California Avenue, and they followed it as it traveled westbound on 95th Street. Police said they stopped the car, smelled marijuana, then asked the driver if they could search the car. Kellogg told police he had a small bag, took it out of his right sock and gave it to the officers, police said.
