Police Blotter: A Two-Wheeled Bust and a Well-Stuffed Bra

Evergreen Park police reports: Aug. 15

On Monday, Aug. 15, arrested two people for retail theft and one for possession of marijuana.

Informant Leads Police to Two-Wheeled Bust

According to police reports, officers received information from a confidential informant that a man with six bags of heroin and was bicycling west on 95th Street at about 8:11 p.m. Officers observed him near Western Avenue and stopped him, but before stopping him, police said they saw him reach his right hand into his right pocket and try to remove something. Police said they searched the man and saw the bag  he removed from his pocket drop from his pant leg, in addition to five other bags. According to reports, police ultimately recovered a total of 2.1 grams of heroin. Police said James Cononico, 28, of Evergreen Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance .

A Mad Dash from the Hardware Store

According to police reports, Wanda Hill, 50, of Chicago was charged with retail theft at 7 p.m. at Ace Hardware, 3404 W. 95th Street. Police said as a store clerk was walking in the store, he saw Hill select several items and place them in bag she had with her. According to reports, Hill went to the cash register to inquire about an item she had in her right hand, but when confronted about the items she had in her bag, she denied having taken anything. Police said Hill then dropped her bag and ran out of store, eastbound on 95th Street, but was stopped on the street shortly after by police officers. During an inventory check, police said they recovered flashlights, a tape measure, and Off Deep Woods insect repellent, among other items, totaling $85.85.

This Woman Really Filled Out Her Bra

A security guard at the 95th Street Walmart saw a woman shopping and followed her as she selected three boxes of skin cream, removed the tubes from the boxes and drop them on floor. According to police, the agent did not see where the woman put tubes of cream. Police said she placed several other items in the checkout cart, then put her purse over the boxes. Loss prevention recovered everything else, which included several skin care and cosmetic items, except the two tubes of cream. According to reports, upon a search, the two tubes of cream were found in the woman's bra. Police said Kizzie Franklin, 34, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft. The items were valued at $58.19, police said.
