SATURDAY, NOV. 15

Seasonal Carson’s Employee Takes from the Job

said they received a complaint that an employee had stolen from Carson Pirie Scott, 9700 S Western Ave. According to reports, a Carson’s security investigator was notified that Dantrell L. Jeter, 18, of Chicago,  a seasonal sales associate, was taking money from the cash register while working. Police said Jeter admitted to taking $150 on Nov. 10 and $350 on Nov. 12, and taking merchandise from the sales floor. Police said Jeter took six jewelry and clothing accessories items valued at $491.40.

According to reports, Jeter said he took the merchandise to sell for money for school. Police said they arrested and charged Jeter with retail theft.

SUNDAY, NOV. 13

Woman Caught Taking Items from Walmart

Police said a woman took several items valued at $69.76 from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St. Store security said they saw the woman take several items from the health and beauty section and hide them in her person. Mary Beth Stempin, 32, went through checkout lines and paid for produce but never removed or paid for the health and beauty items that she stuffed in her purse, police said. She was charged with retail theft.

Police Catch Women Stealing from Walmart

Correll M. Day, 20, and Natasha L. Westmoreland, 20, were arrested and charged with retail theft, police said. At about 8:13 p.m., Day, Westmoreland and a female juvenile took several items and put them in their handbags. Police said they paid for items in the shopping cart but not in their handbags. According to reports, the assortment of cosmetics, car and electronics items were valued at $96.20.

SATURDAY, NOV. 12

Police Find Man with Drug Paraphernalia

Police said at 1:08 p.m., they were dispatched to the Shell gas station at 10258 S. Kedzie Ave. for  a complaint that a man was asking customers for money. When officers arrived, they said they stopped Gregory Peterson, 53, who was drinking a 24-ounce can of Icehouse beer. Police patted him down for weapons and found a glass pipe used for smoking crack cocaine in his right coat pocket. “It should be noted that Peterson had many items in his coat pocket and tactical officers were able to see inside of them without opening his pocket,” police said. Peterson had a coffee straw, steel wool commonly used with crack pipes and three lighters, police said.

According to reports, Peterson said he said he was soliciting for money in the gas station and Jewel grocery parking lot on the Chicago side, then admitted to owning the crack pipe. Police arrested and charged Peterson with possession of drug paraphernalia.

FRIDAY, NOV. 11

Cops Catch Man with Crack Pipe

According to police, Nathaniel Thomas, 46, of Chicago was arrested and charged with possession of paraphernalia. Police said at 1:28 p.m., officers on patrol at 87th Street and California Avenue observed Thomas leave a known drug house and walk toward the nearby gas station, police. According to reports, police saw a hand-to-hand exchange take place between Thomas and another man, who left the area. When police stopped Thomas, they found one metal crack pipe in his right pants pocket, according to reports. He admitted that he was an occasional crack smoker and forgot that he had the pipe in his pocket, police said.

Gang Recruiter Makes House Call

At 9:03 p.m., a man requested police in the 9600 block of South Pulaski Road to removed someone from the apartment, police said. When tactical officers arrived and spoke with complainant, the man said he didn’t want the visitor associating with his sons because he was trying to recruit one of them into a Chicago street gang, said police. The father said the visitor threatened to kill him. The visitor claimed he was visiting friends and hadn't left yet because he was waiting for a ride home.
