According to reports, police observed a car pass them at about 6:38 p.m. on 91st Street and pull into the parking lot at 94th Street and Western Avenue. Officers followed car into the lot, pulled behind it, then identified themselves as police officers, reports said. According to police, the loss prevention department said that while the four subjects were in the store, they split up, with the females going to the food department and the males going to the electronics department. Pineda concealed items in her purse and Abenante concealed items in his coat and waistband, police said. The 16-year-old also concealed items in his waistband, according to reports. All four subjects were detained upon exiting the store without paying for merchandise. Complaints were signed against the two adults.
