WEDNESDAY, AUG. 10

Marijuana Possession, Traffic Charges

Kyeisha M. Hartman-Johnson, 22, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, for having 4.5 grams of marijuana in her possession, police said. Hartman-Johnson also was charged with failure to wear a seat belt, driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance and illegal transportation of alcohol.

Police made a traffic stop on 95th Street near Rockwell Avenue around 4:21 p.m. when Hartman-Johnson was seen driving without a fastened seat belt, according to the police report. Police found that her license was suspended, and a search of the car found two plastic bags containing a green leafy substance that later tested to be marijuana, the report said. There also was an unsealed bottle of alcohol in the unlocked glove box, the report said.

SATURDAY, AUG. 6

Theft at Walmart

Lavetta M. Wren, 36, of Humbole, Tex., was charged with retail theft. According to police reports, loss prevention at Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., saw Wren steal a clipboard, two Carmex moisturizers and one container of Anacin pain relief medicine. The items had a total value of $21.72.

Police Nab Man for Electronic Harassment

Daniel A. Smith, 30, of Worth, was charged with harassment through electronic information. Police said Smith sent three text messages to a woman “with the intent to offend.”

FRIDAY, AUG. 5

Returning to Scene of Crime

Alice R. Coy, 48, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft. at 8:24 p.m. Coy was arrested on Aug. 5 at 8:27 p.m. after she was seen  on surveillance video stealing three items of clothing totaling $18 from Dots clothing store, 2514 W. 84th St., police said. According to reports, a store manager recognized Coy from surveillance video on Aug. 2, when she took the three items, police said.

Flip Camera Theft at Walmart

An employee at Sam’s Club, 9400 S. Western Ave., thought he had gotten away with stealing cameras from the store in June, but a fellow employee turned him in.

Police said Michael J. Roland, 26, of Chicago, took two cameras worth $141.20 from the store on June 8. Police said an employee notified one of the store managers. Sam’s Club conducted an internal investigation, police said. 

Police said Roland gave a statement incriminating himself on the theft, and was arrested on Aug. 5 at 3:12 p.m.
