Police Blotter: Drug Possession and Stealing for the Love of Shoes

Evergreen Park Police reports: Aug. 3

On the Run with Stolen Shoes

On Aug. 3, police charged Angela J. Lee, 19, of Chicago, with retail theft after accusing her of shoplifting $20 in merchandise from Payless ShoeSource and just over $20 in merchandise from the Carson Pirie Scott department store, at The Plaza, 9500 S. Western Ave., police said. According to reports, at about 2 p.m., an employee assisting another customer at Payless saw three females steal shoes from the store. The manager lost sight of them, but later saw loss prevention employees of Carson Pirie Scott chasing the same three and assisted with their apprehension. Lee was charged with two counts of retail theft, and a female juvenile was charged with one count of theft.

No ID But a Bag of Drugs

Minutes later, police responded to a domestic disturbance at 97th Street and Western Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. and later arrested Jeffery Roberts, 30, of Chicago, for possession of marijuana, reports said. Police said when they talked to Roberts at the scene, he refused to show identification and was eventually handcuffed. When officers searched him, they found a small plastic bag in his right front pocket that tested positive for marijuana, according to police. No charges related to the domestic disturbance were filed, police said.
