Man With Open Beer Almost Hits Cop Car: Police Blotter

Almost Hits Police Car

James J. Sacko, 39 of Kankakee was charged with possession of cannabis and transportation of open alcohol. Police say that around 9:48 p.m. Sacko was driving down Western Avenue when he almost hit a police vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction. Police say they found 3.7 grams of cannabis and an open Rolling Rock beer.

Department Store Dispute

Andrew Hoffman, 56, of Chicago was charged with assault. He entered Carson's department store and walked up to an employee and said that he would, "handle this out on the street," according to police. The employee told police he did not know the man. 

Retail Thefts

Shianne Smith, 20 of Chicago was charged with retail theft and obstructing identification. She took $110 worth of jewelery and gave a false name to an officer, police said.

FRIDAY, JAN. 18

Shirley Craig, 47, of Chicago was charged with retail theft. Police say she took nine jewelry items valued at $154.77 from Carsons.
